Today we are starting a small unit on food. I am introducing it by bringing food typical of the country the students are studying.
First grade-Mexico: I brought tortillas, pollo, arroz, mole, tres leches y abuelita chocolate.
Second grade-Cuba: I borught flan, arooz y frijoles negros, y pasta de guayaba.
Third grade-Argentina: I brought milanesa, chimichurri, dulce de leche, y mate.
Fourth grade-Spain: I brought paella and flan.
Fifth grade: fifth grade gets to taste a bit of everything since they don't have a specific country.
I'm so excited! Students are going to discuss the difference and similarities between the food they are trying and the food that they are used to eating in the US. At the end of the week they will draw a typical dish from their country to add to their travel books.
